Shona Robison was baffled by some basic maths questions yesterday about how averages work. It should be a scandal that we have a completely innumerate Cabinet Secretary for Finance, but so low are the expectations of this government, Robison’s obvious incompetence is tolerated.

Do we need a Secretary of State for Wales? Andy Burnham has just named a new Sec of State for Wales. Jo Stevens the previous one has resigned and has been replaced by Stephen Kinnock. But what is the Secretary of State for Wales? And should it even exist any more? So the Welsh secretary is supposed to be the “voice of Wales in cabinet”. Oz: I do agree Trump should get the Nobel prize for that… the data wasn't completely cleaned up, it wasn't the usual kind of studies that we would do, and it turned out over time we have evolved our thoughts around this. It wasn't that it was a bad move, it was a smart move but it's got to be able to change that is what the secretary is insisting on. He was wonderful today.
