I have run aground more than once, ok my record is likely around 5 or 6 times in one day, knowing where the sandbars are located is pretty important but less so when you have a bilge keel boat. I would never have one of those long keeled boats as i would in big trouble as soon as it was floating free. Bilge keel for the win. A wood burner is a must if you wish to thrive and not just survive.
