I managed a c-store years ago. I would not have mined the shop lifting so much if it had been baby supplies and food products. But in my area of town it was 40oz malt liquor and Kools. They was not lifting for basic needs.

If we allow people who need something bad enough to just take it, there would be total anarchy in our streets. The government has so many programs for the needy that anyone who steals is really just someone too lazy to go through the process of getting government assistance.

I have a car I really like. Not top of the line but I’m good. However, if I knew for certain I could walk on the lot of my local Land Rover dealer and simply drive off in a tricked out Defender and that there would be no consequences…I’d be tempted.

I knew a woman who went to prison for retail theft back in the 90's. Not county jail...prison! She had been busted so many times,it warranted a prison sentence. She said she stole stuff due to the rush,not the need.
