WATCH | Some members of the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG) were shocked after seeing a video of one of their leaders, Munyaradzi Angero Savanhu (Munya Savanhu (Angero)), seemingly enjoying himself at a Zanu PF rally. They said they trusted him because he is also a pastor. Savanhu, who is also a writer, had become close to HON Job Wiwa Sikhala which showed how much confidence they had in him. In the video, Savanhu says he made a bet with Kudakwashe Tagwirei that if he attended a Zanu PF event, he would receive a reward. He went on to praise Tagwirei for attracting large crowds and even said he was willing to work for him as his MC.

As the Zanu PF power struggle spirals out of control ahead of its annual conference in Mutare from 13-18 October which will have a decisive impact on the intensifying succession battle, party spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa says the dossier on corruption presented to the politburo by Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga last week on Wednesday will be brushed aside as it is part of a destabilisation, political manoeuvring and confusion strategy by the impatient ones who do not want to wait for the elective congress in 2027. Mutsvangwa, a close political ally of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, previously attacked Chiwenga in vicious and fierce terms, further adding fuel to the already burning succession fires.

The two are bitter political rivals. Mutsvangwa's son Neville was arrested in May last year at the behest of Chiwenga over Starlink and foreign currency dealings. Chiwenga and the military helped remove Mutsvangwa, initially as President Emmerson Mnangagwa's adviser in October 2018, and later as minister in February 2024 due to policy disagreements and factional issues.

Mutsvangwa has described the late Blessed Bombshell Geza as a great hero before and after independence. Mutsvangwa attributed the downfall of Mugabe and the rise of Mnangagwa to Geza’s leading role. Mutsvangwa said it was Geza who actually mobilised him (Mutsvangwa) into the programme to topple Mugabe. He also described the Gezas’ as a family of heroes with the late’s siblings having been top commanders in Zanla and Zipa. Mutsvangwa said the only thing that tainted Geza’s record was his attack on the Second Republic.
