I agree. Government spending is how Congress creates the illusion of economic growth. We have a Potemkin economy where waste and fraud is treated like production. Growth in debt > growth in GDP meaning the productive private economy has been in recession (shrinking) for a while

The only way to adjudge productivity is whether someone is willing to give their OWN money for a product. Every penny of government spending is stolen from UNwilling people. So the answer is no.

I believe if you remove government spending from the equation the US hasn't had a year of positive GDP growth since 2015
