Hell nah I paid for my phone and every time a teacher tried to take it that’s exactly what I said. Ended up getting suspended for 2 weeks because I didn’t give them MY 1200$ phone at the time. That I paid for at 16. So no they shouldn’t tbh

Back in the day this definitely was a thing. You act out your phone took for the day and then you can get it back. These students nowadays will fight you for their phone.

No . My son has his phone on him at all times and only uses it to call me. I call him when he's in school if there's an emergency and his teachers understand.

In Florida, if we get caught having our phones out, it gets confiscated by the teachers to then get passed down to administration/admin. You would then get your phone back when school is over. I’m fine with this rule, but we aren’t even allowed to have our phones out at lunch.

Of course they should. Since Nokia days it was just common knowledge you can’t have your phone out in class. No one complained

Teachers should not be allowed to take phones, but should be allowed to tell you you have to put them up and if you do take them back out should be able to send you out the classroom

Never help yourself. Offer a choice: hand it over or it will be dealt with outside the classroom by someone higher up. Don’t give them the attention they want or an opportunity to get physical. Other students are there to learn.
