Should we adopt moral universalism? Or does it create unforeseen dangers in the way we see and treat people? Tommy Curry, Personal Chair of Africana Philosophy and Black Male Studies at the University of Edinburgh, proposes that Kant’s vision of an ideal world is flawed, and that applying a... show more

Are we losing our ability to understand the philosophical greats? Babette Babich argues that translating the works of great philosophers ultimately leads to their arguments being misunderstood, a problem increasing as fewer and fewer people can read Ancient Greek. Babich is Professor of Philosophy at Fordham University and the editor of the journal New Nietzsche Studies. She joins Christoph Schuringa and Genia Schönbaumsfeld to discuss the evolving relationship between analytic philosophy, rooted in the English speaking world, and continental philosophy, based primarily in France and Germany. Discrimination is a moral good and a moral law, created to protect the things and people we love and cherish. Helen of Troy’s beauty is mythic. Nolan should have fully discriminated in casting to make The Odyssey.

Democrats can be the party that serves the people instead of the corporations. We can refuse to throw trans people, Black people, and progressives under the bus, but it will take courage and moral clarity.

One of the positives of Ireland not participating in Eurovision is that we get to spare the rest of the world a glimpse of our cultural and moral decline. For at least another year, we can pretend that we still have decent standards and values instead of broadcasting our collapse as a form of entertainment. #Eurovision #Eurovision2026

When my father spoke out against the war in Vietnam, he did so not because it was popular, but because his conscience would not allow him to remain silent. He called on this nation to choose a different path, to withdraw from violence, and to reclaim its moral authority in the world. He understood that war does not strengthen a nation’s soul. It weakens it. Today, we are once again faced with decisions that will define who we are and what we value. We cannot claim moral leadership while escalating conflict, threatening destruction, and placing human lives at risk. The measure of our strength is not in our ability to wage war, but in our willingness to pursue peace with discipline, courage, and restraint. My father warned us that silence in moments of moral crisis is not neutral. It is a choice. The question before us now is whether we will repeat the same patterns, or choose a higher way forward grounded in nonviolence and the dignity of all people. #MLK #Nonviolence365 #BelovedCommunity

We stand at a moment of moral crisis in our great country. It is incumbent upon us, The People, to stand up and say this is wrong.

Things feel chaotic right now, but the starting point is simple. We might not be able to control everything happening in the world, but we can control how we treat people, and that’s where change starts. That’s the philosophy today’s guest kept coming back to throughout our conversation. Please welcome, Professor Jiang Xueqin to The Diary Of A CEO. In 2024, Jiang made several predictions that have already come true and the way he approaches these predictions is simple. He believes that past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour. So instead of guessing what might happen next, he studies patterns, incentives and how people and institutions have acted before. Some of the predictions he’s got right include Trump winning in November 2024 and escalating tensions with Iran. He’s now predicting the US will lose the war and that this will affect the entire global order. Professor ****Jiang is a Yale-educated geopolitics expert and host of the YouTube channel ‘Predictive History’ who uses theories and historical patterns to predict world events before they happen.

Here’s to the people who go the extra mile. Who see that something more can be done, and even when it isn’t required, even when no one is watching, they do it anyway. That is consideration. That is decency. That is grace. It is using our moral imagination to ask: What can I do, right here, to look out for someone else? Here’s to the people who care. The people who take the extra step. The people who remind us that service isn’t just a job. It is a way of moving through the world. May we see more of this. May we be more of this. op: @the.amazing.truth

"For Christians, we accept that we're flawed, we accept that we sin, and we accept that the only pathway for us to redemption is to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ." "What's often missing from progressive ideology, from secular ideology or atheist ideology, is: how do you give a person a moral ought?" Andrew Wilson (Andrew Wilson) & Joe Rogan on Jesus compared to Muhammad, and what's missing from progressive ideology's moral framework.

I often watch videos like this and wonder if these people understand what they are saying or if they are just saying whatever they think sounds edgy and rebellious. If children should not be taught ideas they cannot fully evaluate until adulthood, then virtually all parenting would be useless. Every parent passes on a worldview to their child every time they teach them something. The only question is which worldview. We need to stop pretending that religious and moral traditions are interchangeable simply because saying that makes people feel better. How do you know murder is wrong? The Decalogue. Objective morality comes from the Creator. The Decalogue does not invent goodness. All it does is reveal it to us in an authoritative form which is the moral order grounded in the character of the One who created it. And there are only two religions that treat the Decalogue as moral law. Judaism and Christianity. Other religions may contain individual rules that resemble individual commandments but sharing isolated moral prohibitions is not the same thing as receiving the Ten Commandments as canonical divine revelation delivered by God to Moses. Every time a parent tells a child that lying is wrong, that stealing is unjust, or that the powerful can’t exploit the weak, that parent is teaching a moral worldview. Just because they ground that worldview in consensus or autonomy doesn't mean it did not come from God. Why else is that it wasn't until Judaism and Christianity that something like for example child sacrifices to the Gods stopped? The biblical tradition produced one of history’s clearest, most sustained, and most influential theological repudiations of child sacrifice. So clearly before Scripture was revealed most people didn’t know that murder was wrong. Hebrew Scriptures contain repeated, explicit condemnations of sacrificing children, including prohibitions against giving children to Molech and denunciations of those who burned their sons and daughters as offerings. Why? Because surrounding people practiced that. And Christianity later extended that protection within the Greco-Roman world to infanticide and infant exposure. “Let children decide for themselves” is an insane proposition. Children cannot decide among moral systems they do not understand. They do not know anything, we are the ones who teach them. And anytime we teach them don't lie, cheat, and steal we are teaching them the Decalogue. Whether we call it that or not. That is also why Judaism and Christianity matter uniquely to the moral formation of Western civilization. They share the biblical creation account, the image of God, the revelation given through Moses, the Decalogue, the prophets’ demands for justice, and the conviction that rulers and ordinary people alike remain accountable to a law above human power. Christianity receives this Jewish moral inheritance; it does not replace it or create one of its own. Christians and Jews disagree profoundly over the identity of Jesus, the Messiah, salvation, and the world to come. But their basic moral vocabulary concerning life, truth, fidelity, justice, responsibility, worship, family, property, and care for the vulnerable is the same. Every parent teaches their child about reality and morality. The difference is that the religious parent is honest about the source of that morality, whereas a secular parent is not. Truth is objective, whether you chose to accept that or not. You can raise your child however you want. But pretending secular morality is neutral is just not true.
