I think it would be a great project to restore at least ONE of the great monastic ruins to its late medieval condition. It could be Whitby, Fountains, Tintern, even Glastonbury. But one, in 1500AD condition, that accurately recreates a monastic foundation in detail would be a superb museum

Yes, let's reclaim more of our heritage. It can be our Notre-Dame, born again.

I am allowed to admit it's a tough job on your builders, hope they build it as it should be but it would be tough work.

Yes Restore. Stop funding illegal colonisers for one year and use those billions to fund the restoration.

@grok Estimate how much it would cost to restore Whitby Abbey today.

I'd love to see as much of Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell's wanton vandalism reversed as possible. The loss of so many beautiful medieval abbeys was a tragedy. So yes, I think it would be wonderful to see it restored

If it brought more faithful, perhaps Jesus would be more present in the community, imho.

Built with pick axes and shovels and ropes etc and blood sweat and tears and muscle. Todays machinery would struggle and charge a bloody fortune and take 10 years at least.
