It was DEMONcrat president that stopped slaves from getting reparations. After Lincoln was assassinated, Johnson — a Democrat from Tennessee — pardoned former Confederates and ordered the land returned to the original owners. He did it by executive order, not by a congressional vote. Congress never struck it down; Johnson just reversed it on his own authority.

America did something. Slaves were given a country, Liberia, with our constitution. They ruined it.

Why argue against the idea that it should have been paid back then, right after slavery ended? The people responsible would’ve paid the people directly harmed. That’s an obvious yes. 2. The “if your ancestor killed my grandma, should you have to pay?” analogy is stupid. For the murder? No. But if your ancestor killed her, stole her property, built a fortune from it, then passed that fortune down to you? Yes, the stolen property or proceeds should absolutely be recoverable.
