From what I understand, it's not just banning kids from social media. It is requiring everyone, EVERYONE, to provide ID in order to even use it at all. A digital ID, per se. Government overreach is what people are afraid of.

I'm one of the people who do not agree with the Australian law. I feel that this is gov overreach. Considering that Australia had covid camps & the citizens have no right to own firearms. This will be used to exert control over the citizens & their internet usage instead of "protecting kids." If parents are concerned about their kids SM usage, then the parents need to deal with this. I don't think more gov will ever be the solution, especially w an authoritarian regime known as the Australian gov. There's too many options out there to stop kids & their inappropriate SM usage. The parents are the ones buying the phones for the kids.

This is not just that. No there will be no anonymity online for anyone in Australia. Every person who wants to get on any social media will have to provide an ID to prove they are not under 16. This will be used against the citizens just like it was during COVID or like now in the UK. Don't say something the government does not like because they will come after you.

I agree that children should not be on social media but that’s the parents responsibility, not the government role. Once the government makes it illegal for youths to not go on social media, it allows the deep state that control the puppets in government to implement internet control identity. Which will then give more control to the government which is exactly what we don’t want. Alex Jones was just talking about this .

Firstly the bill that supposedly helps parents doesn’t mention parent once. Second. It requires every single Australian to have a digital ID. The theory is how everyone must prove they are over 16, not just the ones under 16. Everyone. At the exact same time they tried to introduce a “miss and disinformation bill” which thankfully was set to fail so they pulled it. Trust me. I’m in Australia, this is not what it seems

Explain how they will verify it? That is what we are against. The fact that everyone will need id. Many people want to remain anonymous due to work and the like.

It’s not good Ant, more regulation of social media sites is good but government regulation requiring everybody to submit their ID is very invasive and will lead to digital ID, this is very bad ☹️

Finding that out. I just thought it was good for kids

Because that sets a precedent to prove your identity on social media increasing government tracking abilities.

I normally agree with you but this has to be one of the dumbest ideas you've ever had. Do you really want more government bureaucrats in our business? Do you want to live in a police state? This is the kind of stuff Elon Musk is trying to get rid of.
