But this potential is only realized if AI is applied with purpose, strong values and people at the center.” Minister Paula Ingabire (Paula Ingabire), Minister of ICT & Innovation for Rwanda (Ministry of ICT and Innovation | Rwanda) Rwanda currently has only one healthcare worker per 1,000 people, far below the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation of about four per 1,000. It would take 180 years for that gap to close at the current pace of progress. So, as part of the 4x4 reform initiative, Minister of Health Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana (Dr Sabin Nsanzimana) recently announced the launch of an AI-powered Health Intelligence Center in Kigali to help ensure limited health care resources are being used as wisely as possible. As part of the #Horizon1000 initiative, we aim to accelerate the adoption of AI tools across primary care clinics, within communities and in people’s homes. Since October 2023, World Health Organization (WHO) has documented 75 attacks on Kamal Adwan Hospital, 63 on Al-Awda Hospital, and 28 on Indonesian Hospital, resulting in severe damage and destruction to all three facilities. Kamal Adwan and Indonesian hospitals are currently non-functional, while restoration efforts are underway at Al-Awda Hospital. As part of its 60-day plan, WHO is scaling-up efforts to support early recovery and rebuild Gaza's health system, focusing on restoring essential health services and making hospitals operational.

The health situation in northern #Gaza is horrific, with precarious access to essential health care. Health care continues to be attacked and hospitals starved of supplies and fuel, while WHO’s ability to regularly reach health facilities is severely compromised due to consistent mission delays and denials. We urge for a sustained and safe humanitarian access. Ceasefire!
