DelBene: They’re scared they can’t keep a majority in the House because they’re not standing up for the issues the American people care about. You didn’t hear a single person in any of those videos talk about what the people of Texas want, what the people of Indiana want. This is all about taking orders from Donald Trump. And we should be making sure that voters get to pick their representatives—not politicians picking their voters. They know they can’t win, so they’re trying to rig the system.

Do they really think communism is going to happen? No. They’re trying to scare people because they don’t want us talking about the fact that we all have a right to health care. Hinojosa: What I wish the press would cover, and what I wish people understood, is that it’s all about corruption. At least in Texas, we’re paying into a system that is working against us. The legislation I see getting passed in the Texas House—the only legislation we get to vote on that comes before us—is pushed by moneyed interests. That is corrupt. It’s the reason why people are turned off by government. It’s the reason why people are turned off by capitalism, because they’re experiencing the crony capitalism that we have in this country, and in Texas in a big way. Texas has become a pay-to-play state, and as a result, we have skyrocketing property taxes, yet we have over 150 whole school districts operating on a four-day week because they can’t afford to operate five days a week. Whole school districts. We have over 150 schools shutting down. We have the highest uninsured rate in Texas—the most uninsured children in the country. We have the most people being disconnected from their electricity because they can’t afford to pay their bills. I mean, the list goes on and on. That is Greg Abbott’s record. That’s why the polling shows people want change. They know Greg Abbott. They know he’s been there 12 years, and they will not elect him to another four. That’s the opportunity we have in this election.

Brown: In a state of 12 million people, half a million are going to lose their insurance. And these are mostly working families whose employers don’t provide insurance — or kids, or seniors, or disabled people. Those are the people losing their health insurance. People didn’t vote for that. They didn’t vote for drug prices to go up. They didn’t vote for higher grocery bills. They didn’t vote for veterans’ benefits being slashed. They didn’t vote for any of this. And whatever their allegiance to the president is — it doesn’t matter in that sense. Cross: There is a deal on the table right now that Republicans can accept. They won't do that because they don't want to extend one year of subsidies to make sure that people have affordable health care. So you're going to have people who are deciding, do I spend $500 to go to a doctor, or do I buy groceries? And those same people are the people you guys are saying are living in a safety jacuzzi. And some of these people are your voters. More than half the people in the marketplace live in Republican congressional districts. A part of me feels like you're getting the government you voted for, but the human in me can see the humanity in these people, more so than I've seen other people be able to extend and say they don't deserve to be without health care.

What I know is that when the ultra-rich and special interests were on a roll in the 1920s and started controlling the government, they crashed the economy and caused the Great Depression. When the ultra-rich and big banks were controlling the government, they were “on a roll” and caused the Great Recession in 2008. We’ve got to stop that roll—we can’t let them do something like that again. The only cure, the only solution to oligarchy, is the actual power of working people. The only solution to wannabe autocrats is more democracy. So we need more and more people to show up and speak out against Trump and Musk’s abuses. And they think, 'Oh, we don't have the control so we can't do it.' And we have this negativism all the time. But that's not what it is at all.
