I agree completely. One of the problems ultimately, is many parents look at school like free daycare. As products of government school many of us don’t even realize what education is supposed to look like. This is a great start though.

Bringing it back to the states will breed competition between each state for who will have the best education systems, all while costing less.

The left will hear this and scream “Trump doesn’t care about education!” When the opposite is true, shutting down the federal department and reallocating the funds back to the states will benefit education substantially. The dept of ed, like most government departments/agencies, has become a inefficient and bloated bureaucracy with terrible outcomes.
