#Mandaadi - From writing, I’ve wanted #Soori sir. We didn’t have any other choice. Director #Vetrimaaran sir deposited ₹50K in my bank account to explore the sea and get the story. Through that, I explored the world. Initially, I had a different script called the “mother script.” We were trying to mount it with #VijaySethupathi, but it didn’t materialise. Then Elred Kumar wanted to do a film, and that’s when #Vetrimaaran mediated, and Elred Kumar sir took one element from the “mother script” boat racing. Elred Kumar sir said this would be great. In that different script, boat racing was just one part of the story. Then #Soori sir came, I narrated the one-line story, and developed the writing for the movie. — Mathimaran Pugazhendi

But I really love to immerse myself in new styles through a director’s taste and where they want to pull me. But it was very challenging."
