Sikh History has a chapter which should be shared widely.. it’s the story of Diwan Todar Mal ji Seth Todar Mal ji selflessly performed the last rites for the sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji

Todar Mal ji, wealthy merchant of Sirhind, who performed the last rites for the two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji martyred, on 12 December 1706, under the orders of Wazir Khan, faujdar of Sirhind, and of Mata Gujari, the Guru’s mother who died of the shock on the same day

It is said that landowners around the Sirhind Fort would not permit him to hold the cremation in their fields, until one seller agreed to sell him a plot with a condition that that he’ll give as much land to Todar Mal ji as he can take up by covering the place with gold coins

Todar Mal ji produced the coins and bought the piece of land he needed After the shahidis of Sahibzaade and passing of Mata Guzri at Sirhind, fear was so intense that even cremation became difficult

Diwan Todar Mal ji is remembered for securing land so that Mata Gujri Ji and the younger Sahibzade could be cremated with dignity… traditions describe a brutal condition of “covering land with gold coins” to purchase it

This aspect of Sikh History moves me to tears.. I just want to high how it is to be all devoted to your god, but it takes immense courage and strength to follow the path of Guru 🙏🙏

Zalim raja ? Name that Zalim raja tol, Wazir Khan who was a governor under Aurangzeb. Their cruelty was second to none, the only wanted to propagate islam and kill anyone who came in front of them.

Diwan Todar Mal Ji spent his entire wealth buying land with gold coins so the martyred Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji could be cremated with dignity. That’s what real faith and courage look like. Mughal officials discarded the bodies near a forest by the river outside Sirhind, and that wild animals did not touch them until Sikhs recovered them for cremation. Tradition holds that even a lion watched over the Sahibzadas’ and Mata Gujri Ji’s bodies before Diwan Todar Mal Ji bought the land with gold coins and performed their last rites. A Gurdwara stands at the cremation site - Gurdwara Jyoti Saroop (Jyoti Sarup) Sahib near Fatehgarh Sahib in Sirhind.
