Sikhs of whole country rejects reprehensible statement made by Chief Minister of Sikkim regarding issue of Gurdwara Sri Guru Dongmar Sahib Chandigarh: Addressing the press today at Chandigarh, the General Secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal and secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal Gurjeet Singh Talwandi condemned the statement made by the Chief Minister of Sikkim regarding Gurdwara Sri Guru Dongmar Sahib and said that this place is associated with the visit of Sri Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh Guru. The case of this Gurdwara Sahib is sub-judice at the High Court of Sikkim and the decision has been reserved by the honorable court. In violation of the honorable court, the Chief Minister of Sikkim said that under no circumstances will Gurdwara Sahib be allowed to be built, which is highly reprehensible and illogical. The SGPC is committed to maintaining this Gurdwara Sahib as per the Sikh Rehat Maryada (Code of Conduct) as it has an association of the visit of Sri Guru Nanak Dev. While the sentiments of the entire Sikh world have been hurt by the statement given by the Chief Minister of Sikkim, there is also a huge resentment in the community. It was also said by Bhai Grewal and Talwandi that no one will be allowed to commit arbitrary action under any circumstances. The Sikh community can even risk their lives for the maintenance and service of their historical shrines. A 750 page document presented in the court as a reference and evidence in this case, recording the history of the third Sumer Udasi by Sri Guru Nanak Dev was also placed before the press, which has the clear mention of Gurdwara Sri Guru Dongmar Sahib in Sikkim. I feel blessed that not only the Sikh Sangat but all people of faith and spiritual attainment like the Sadhguru are drawn to the divinity and power of the holy relics which our ancestors, who were in the seva of Dasam Pita, were bestowed with more than 300 years ago. On behalf of my family, I was blessed to hand over the holy relics to Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee which dedicated a permanent home for Jore Sahib at Takhat Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib. The holy Jore Sahib “Charan Suhawa” of the founder of Khalsa Panth, Dasam Pita Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and his wife Mata Sahib Kaur Ji have been with our family for more than 300 years. Today, I feel humbled that my family will hand over the custody of the holy relics to Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. A special Kirtan Samagam will be held at Gurdwara Moti Bagh today, October 22, 2025 where the devotees will be able to have a darshan of the holy Jore Sahib. The holy Jore Sahib will then be taken in Guru Charan Yatra and will be permanently placed at the birthplace of Dasam Pita in Takht Sri Patna Sahib where the devout will be able to pay their obedience and perform Darshan. The Guru Charan Yatra will begin on October 23 from Gurdwara Moti Bagh and reach Faridabad by night. On October 24, it will travel from Faridabad to Agra; on the 25th to Bareilly; on the 26th to Mahangapur; on the 27th to Lucknow; on the 28th to Kanpur; on the 29th to Prayagraj; on the 30th it will proceed through Varanasi to Sasaram; on the 31st, it will reach Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh, Patna Sahib; and on the morning of November 1, it will arrive at Takht Sri Patna Sahib, marking the conclusion of the Yatra.

PM Modi Ji’s deep respect and affection for the Sikh community are reflected in several visionary initiatives undertaken during his leadership. From strengthening Sikh heritage sites, opening of the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor in 2019, befitting celebration of 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, 350th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, 400th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, removal of GST from Langar Seva & FCRA approval for donations and providing better connectivity to holy sites of Sikhism, to declaring December 26 as Veer Baal Diwas, among several other initiatives. Modi Ji also personally ensured the safe passage of the sacred Swaroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the accompanying Sikh delegation from Kabul to Delhi in 2021 when I was immensely blessed to perform seva of the holy Swaroops upon their arrival in Delhi. In his address today, Modi Ji fondly recalled his visit to Takht Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib, where he paid obeisance to the holy Jore Sahib “Charan Suhava” of Dasam Pita Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and Khalsa Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. My family was immensely blessed to perform the seva of the holy Jore Sahib ever since Guru Sahib and Mata Ji themselves bestowed these sacred relics upon our ancestors over 300 years ago. They had remained in our family’s care ever since. When my family resolved to place these sacred relics in a permanent home where the Sikh Sangat and devotees of all faiths could pay their obeisance to the holy Charan Suhava, we were guided by the vision of PM Shri Modi Ji, who took a deep personal interest in ensuring a befitting arrangement. A committee of eminent members of the Sikh Sangat had the privilege of meeting the Hon’ble PM to present its recommendations for the safekeeping and display of the holy Jore Sahib at the divine birthplace of Dasam Pita Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. #WATCH | Amritsar | Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has filed a complaint with the Amritsar CP, alleging that a Muslim man rinsed his mouth with the holy water inside the premises of the Sri Harmandir Sahib. SGPC legal advisor Advocate Amanbir Singh Siali says, "On the 13th of last month, a young Muslim man was seen entering the premises of Harmandir Sahib and rinsing his mouth with the holy water of the sacred pool. He uploaded a video of this on the 16th, after which it came to the SGPC's attention. An internal investigation revealed that the young man had entered Harmandir Sahib with the intention of committing sacrilege... There were five young men in total, who stayed inside for 20 minutes. Today, we are filing a complaint with the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar... The CCTV footage does not show him paying obeisance or offering prayers at any point... He is a resident of Ghaziabad..." The Shiromani Akali Dal strongly condemns the Maharashtra govt’s decision to interfere in the autonomous functioning of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib by repealing The Nanded Sikh Gurdwara Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Act, 1956 and replacing it with a new law. This sacred Takht, sanctified by Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji, belongs to the Sikh Panth. No government has any right to impose control over it. We urge the Maharashtra Govt & CM Sh. Devendra Fadnavis to immediately withdraw this proposal and not take any step that conflicts with the sentiments of the Sikh Sangat.
