To be fair, Godzilla 2000 does look cool. The orange atomic breath and the long jagged purple back spines are very unique compared other Godzilla designs at the time.

As a 7 year old seeing Godzilla 2000 for the fist time, I was ENAMORED, loved Heisei growing up and had action figures but, my friends and I used to RPS over who was getting G2000 lmao

I would also argue that recency bias would play a part in this decision; GODZILLA 2000 was, after all, the film that got the most media attention, having been released just a few years earlier, coupled with the Mire-Goji having more "appeal."

I love godzilla but to the common folk who know nothing about the character if you put older version next to 2000 i think more common folk would pick up 2000 design.
