Specifically for payroll, direct deposit transactions, which primarily cover payroll and government benefits, accounted for approximately 8.9 billion transactions. While exact payroll-only figures are not isolated in public data, payroll constitutes a significant portion of direct deposit ACH credits. Based on industry estimates, roughly 70–80% of direct deposit transactions are payroll-related, suggesting an annual volume of around 6.2–7.1 billion payroll transactions in 2023. And yet, if you have been paying attention to Nacha, these figures from 2023 have DRAMATICALLY INCREASED. 🏁Conclusion 💨 Yes, there will be others that capture the “Dunkin Doughnuts Gift Card” portion of payroll, but it cannot compare to the sheer volume of the golden ACH.
