Since both political parties and the donor class decided today is Paramount Oligarch Day, it seems like a good moment to post this before it is erased from the world by the media overlords. This scene was supposed to be a cautionary tale. It became America's dominant ideology.

Network is an amazing movie and everyone should watch it. America should’ve learned this lesson before I was born. They SCREAMED IT AT YOU!!!

I swear this film gets more and more prophetic every day.

Speculative capitalism isnt sustainable. Like black holes, its an infinity equation. Profits must increase after consumers have been outsourced & cannibalized. Corporations now extract profits from a deficit & are destroying the world for short term gains. Devaluation is THE END.

It reminds me of the dark vision of "Rollerball" where future society values comfort over freedom & the potential rise of disruptive leaders is managed away. Both of these films underestimated elite greed and overestimated the cost of pacifying the public

needs a Adam Curtis cut to: and then something strange happened

I’m mad as hell, and ai;m not going to take it any more.

I have seen the face of God!

If you are concerned about oligarchy, why not embrace communism? Communist countries dont get in useless wars for profit.

That isn't that outcome though - it brought ruin. We are biological. They destroyed most human-kind viability through mating and contact.

Speaking of cautionary tales we ignore, the Fascist takeovers of Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Chile come to mind.

Network--great movie! Peter Finch, Ned Beatty (many other stellar actors, a huge cast). It was a prescient foreshadowing of our current nightmare.

Love this film
