What is missing from this debate, in every country where they have tried to pass this legislation, is the buyers. We don’t hear from them, we don’t see them. We don’t see them out giving newspaper articles, talking about their ‘right to buy sex’. The reason that we don’t is that if you listen to the way they talk about women, that is the best advert for criminalising them that you will ever, ever hear.

More GOP questions about Iran end goals. Here’s GOP Rep Pete Sessions to me tonight: “This administration is going to have to figure out: what is the goal here? Is the goal here to open back up the strait of hormuz, or is it where Israel's position would be? Or is it to do away with their desire to bomb people?…We should have a better understanding about what is left in an arsenal against not only the United States and our assets there, but also Israel and other friends that we have in the gulf. So this is an equation that they are going to have to put their heads together and make that determination.”

It’s about making sure victims have justice and accountability, and that this doesn’t happen anymore. You know, I actually worked here when I was younger as a graduate student fellow. We should never allow any of that when it comes to the staff or anywhere else. People should feel safe here at the Capitol. Again, this is somewhere where I think we need to make sure we’re showing accountability. I’m going to do everything I can on the Democratic side to push in that direction and stand up, especially when it’s very clear that something is not in line with our values or our laws. I push Republicans to do the same. I wish I had greater sway on that side to be able to enforce that, but they need to step up more, and we all need to step up more to make it clear that this is unacceptable.
