Many now and even some HR would double-check, a lot would see you as a threat. If you're a genius and published an international bestseller, cool. If you made a new discovery in science or business that is the new conversation in town, fine. But for breaking into traditional sectors, I would prefer an MBA to a PhD, because I would make new friends who are business-minded, and we could create a business solution together. But a PhD? Even for a lecturing job, you would still need to try extra and know people — a edge you have that can also become a stone in the shoe is concerning. Plus a PhD isn't an open sesame to success.
