Since I started walking, I have been eating British military rations for almost three meals a day, every day. And I have one question: Why does every single package contain beans? I understand they are filling. I understand they have protein. I understand they are practical for military rations.... show more

Ah you need to eat the biscuit browns that come with the ration packs and then you won't shit for three days. They balance each other out. 😂

Omg 🤣🤣🤣

@chrisbarringt19 Yeah they balance it a bit + protein. Most MREs plug you up so you can fight instead using the latrine. Also nothing says I missed you guys then clearing a dugout

@chrisbarringt19 🤣🤣 the comments are so good.

Can’t you use that eruption to propel you along the way? 🚀

🤣🤣🤣

It would save your poor feet.

Beans, beans, are good for your heart The more you eat them, the more you'll fart The more you'll fart, the better you'll feel So Heinz beans for every meal

Seeing all these variations is pretty awesome actually.

@IsleJennifer Even Barbie is smelling it! 😂

I put on a gas mask just to be safe while looking at this.

Beans beans, good for your heart, The more you eat, the more you fart, The more you fart, the more you eat, The more you sit on the toilet seat.

I like beans and eat lots of them, but it's raw, shredded cabbage salads that hit me hard. I think you can gradually become accustomed to beans. I still have work to do with cabbage.

Count your blessings...... 😂 P.S. Wishing you all the best on your long and arduous walk.🫡

"I understand they are filling. I understand they have protein. I understand they are practical for military rations." Seems you answered your own question!

I love our rat packs 🤣🤣 I used to come back with tones of them after camp as people would just give them to me. So I was in ❤️❤️, I just enjoyed the food 🤣🤣 you’d see me sat in the garden cooking the rat pack the way it was designed. My twin thought I was utterly nuts.

👍 Now imagine the same ingredients in use on a royal navy frigate or a submarine. greetz from a "Kraut". 😂

In a submarine!? Do they even like their guys? 🤣🤣

The usual "do or die" mentality 🤷♂️ I'am glad that i served on fast attack boats in the baltic sea. When lousy cooking triggered similar effects in the crew quarters i did sleep on deck.

@seaghmacs 😂😂😂 walking down the highway releasing biological warfare 😂😂😂

@Alex04795003 I remember eating those thing for weeks at a time. The first piece of fresh food would cause a thermo-nuclear reaction. 🥴🍑💨💨💨💨

Flatus and we Brits have a longstanding relationship. Why do you think it's so windy here 💨😬🇬🇧

@peterhlphd It is preparations for when they ever have to fight the French.

How dare you complain? There are innocent Russians with no gas at all!!! Oh, wait, nm, there are no innocent Russians. Carry on.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 omg

PARPS are part of the whole experience 😂💨💨💨💨

So its a gas propelled journey now - godspeed 😁

Good question. The answer is: they’re cheap, they store for years, and they fill you up. The problem is the fiber is not digestible and the protein is incomplete and not bioavailable for humans. Hence, gastrointestinal civil war.

Because when you are stuck somewhere and can't get out, a good old trousers ripper is funny. Imagine spending 5 days in a tank under simulated nuclear attack and having fart competitions for entertainment

Retired military opinion for you .. um yeah sorry about that our rations are very much based on keeping you tabbing for days at a time calories and protein etc very good yes but the side effects are "noticeable " but hey you can keep going right? ... if only alone because of it

Chemical warfare, not biological. And it's legal. 🤣

🤣🤣🤣

Do you have a brother nicknamed "Swamp Gas Billlie" ? 😂 Years ago kids were seated in school in alphabetical order. The guy just ahead of me was nicknamed "Swamp-gas Billie". He must have had four stomachs like a cow..it's the only way he could have fermented that much stale gas. I got so used to his brand of farts, I could walk into a room full of people with the lights out and tell you if he was in there. We always knew where he was at because it showed up as a blue plume on weather radar. During open house, parents would ask "was the school built on top of a landfill?". The teacher thought I was falling asleep in class... I was actually being asphyxiated. We couldn't sneak cigarettes when he was around due to the explosion hazard. I asked my mom if she could just get re-married so I could change my last name.

I don't know what the ration packs are like nowadays but in the 70s/80s they were dire.

😂😂 should see the chilli bean cans i have on my bike touring trip in Australia enough for week 😂😂 thank god only me in the tent. ☢️💣

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not sure, what gif to use.....windy or jet propelled! 🤣🤣🤣😘

3 rations of beans a day, keeps uninvited people away! 🤪

I was working in the UK some years ago in a racing team. I got to be the passenger in the team truck. Truck drivers in the UK seem to take a strange delight in shoving down a can of beans with 3 eggs and a heap of bread soaked in oil , a few scraps of bacon and some black pudding then climbing into the truck and doing a straight 8 hours without opening the window . Fucking disgusting being stuck in the cab with that I can tell you.

Lol my mum used to make them, but remember there's also chocolate pudding and a number of curries!

I don’t like the chocolate pudding with brownies. I left them for my soldiers to take. I’m sure they are really good when you have nothing else but my autism can deal with the texture.

Yeah it's not the best texture! Or at least it wasn't when I last had it when I was a kid!

I live in Mexico and eating beans is pretty common here. So I am well aware of the side effects. Maybe Ukraine could use a Mexican battalion for chemical warfare. 🤣 For some reason people in UK love beans, but only one variety. In Mexico we have many.

When the Brits signed the Geneva Conventions against chemical warfare, they found a loop hole, and exploited it.

Imagine how the tankers feel. Why yes it can be sealed for NBC operations... That's 4 guys worth of methane... in a enclosed space...

I'm with you , when I tried a vegetarian diet , I tried beans ( mostly black ) as a protein substitute , but was always so gassy and bloated feeling , I went back to meat

Can mix the hot chocolate powder, with the milk powder and sugar. Make a milk shake, if poop looks like said milkshake, eat the biscuit browns.
