I hope sequels like Gladiator II serve as cautionary tales for Heat 2. Like most people, I really wanted Gladiator II to work, but both the story & the filmmaking are just not good. But the fact Heat 2 is based off a quality crime novel (written by Mann himself) is reassuring.

I traveled this weekend & the first thing that was on when I hit the hotel room was Ocean’s Eleven. Is there a better feeling on Earth? Watching this as I unpacked reminded me that this is one of my all-time comfort films. Pitt & Clooney are impossibly good together at all times.
