This is an unfunded capital project that was implemented without even having the catalogue infrastructure in place. This "Final Review" deadline is July 1st, 2023. Less than 5 months away for less than 52 media specialist to review 1.6 million books.

Do I need to keep going or can my kids have their books back and parents have the right to sign an opt-in/out permission slip to have the same access to books as they had two weeks ago?

Also, @GovRonDeSantis if you legitimately do not believe my kids reality i invite you to visit their elementary where I learned my kids lost all the books during literacy night and saw them covered for the first time while they were raising funds with a book fair.

@RonDeSantisFL can we stop the games with my children's education? This is an elementary school yesterday with covered books. Your answer dismissing the reality of what you are doing to our children didn't sit right with a lot of teachers and parents in Duval.

The district has said they have reviewed 6,000 titles (0.375% of the 1.6m) 16 days since media guidance resource where librarians work on reading comprehension with elementary students to complete this mandate for one county in Florida

It has come to my attention that the governor and school board are claiming my video didn't show the books on the other side of the room. You tell me if this is a library or storage... This is what it looked like on February 6th.

@GovRonDeSantis Clearly @GovRonDeSantis does not want the students of Florida to have access to the type of education he had (Yale, Harvard). What a pitiful man he is.

NEW: Schools across the country are requiring students to lock their phones in a phone pouch for the entire school day, can unlock the pouch at the end of the day. Teachers and principals say phones in the classroom are becoming too much of a distraction. “The last couple years, we left it up to the teachers to kind of govern their classrooms,” said Danville High School Principal Jacob Bretz. “We were just running into the constant battle that temptation of that phone being accessible in the pocket, wondering do I have a message, feeling the notifications go off and the urge to check them.” Students are required to put all cellphones, ear buds and smart watches in the magnetically locked pouches at the start of the school day. At the end of the school day, the students are allowed to unlock the pouch. Good!
