This clip is a segment from a longer #neuroscience educational video I made combining #neuro history, remixing other #connectomics datasets, in an attempt to share my appreciation for the complex circuitry in real #brains, and excitement for the future.

If you're interested in #connectomics, I've written recently for @_TheTransmitter on challenges around whole-brain visualization, the complexities of scaling up, the need to aggregate #neurons into meaningful groups, with more pretty pictures!

The images have been making there way around the world, and for many people it will be the first time that they've seen what real neurons look like. I'm a hard-liner and think that as neuroscientists we shouldn't move away from 'fake' neurons being used in science communication

@amyneurons @FlyWireNews It's fascinating to see the complex dance of neurons and synapses come to life in this animation. I'm particularly intrigued by the info flow from the ocelli - definitely worth a closer look.

@qTechHiker @amyneurons @FlyWireNews Agreed! Check out Fig 7 they've done some slick science that was used in the animation. The animation used information flow data (Fig 6) with the Ocellar starting circuit (Fig7)
