In Bruges deserves to be called a masterpiece- it’s a near perfect film but despite that, this only earned one Oscar nomination, and that was Martin McDonagh’s nomination for Best Original Screenplay. I think multiple actors should’ve been nominated & this should’ve been nominated for Best Picture. It just speaks to the fact that this film was ahead of its time.

The film eventually became profitable, but rewrites, hurricanes, and set issues pushed the film’s budget to new heights. The entire production/release of this film did a number on Costner’s reputation. With all that said, I enjoy this film& think the criticism of it was overdone.

#1942ALoveStory was a boring watch for me on its first day of release in 1994. The intent was in the right place, but the execution lacked soul and spirit. My first reaction was that it made for a great #Chitrahaar because of its songs one after another, but as a film it was merely average, though certainly not bad. Without #RDBurman’s music, it might have been a largely forgettable experience. Despite a terrific star cast and some beautiful cinematography, the film itself felt surprisingly lackluster. The film lacked intensity & depth for the theme which was extremely promising. I still remember coming out of the cinema hall and asking two friends of mine, both regular moviegoers, what they thought of the film.
