Both Sinclair and Nexstar will not be airing Jimmy Kimmel's show tonight. My sources say ABC is committed to airing "Jimmy Kimmel Live" with or without Nexstar & Sinclair -- though conversations of course will remain ongoing in hopes of reaching a resolution. Nexstar & Sinclair's stations cover roughly 25% of the country, meaning 1/4 of Americans won't be able to watch Kimmel's show on their local ABC stations tonight. All this & more w/ Danny Freeman.

I miss watching Severance. I’m not totally positive the status of the show’s third season, but the first two were television excellence. It’s another example of Apple TV getting it right, in addition to shows like Slow Horses & Shrinking. The casting in this show is perfect.

The beginning of the end was Nexstar Media, one of the largest owners of TV stations in the country, saying they would be longer air his show. Just a month ago Nexstar proposed a $6.2 billion merger with Tegna, one of their biggest rivals. That merger needs FCC approval. Nexstar’s announcement came right after FCC Chair Brandon Carr went on a podcast and encouraged local broadcasters to drop Kimmel. Brian Stelter on CNN: "Nexstar already owns lots of TV stations. It wants to merge with Tegna, which owns lots of other stations. In order to do that, it needs Brandon Carr, the FCC Chair's, permission, and it actually needs the FCC to change the regulations entirely about how many stations an individual company can own.”
