I have an idea. Make India like the European Union. Every state will have their own constitution but will have a common currency. The people from all the states would be allowed to travel through different states. Every state will trade with each other.

India needs non-Indian leaders like Lee Kuan Yew, to forge an integrated and harmonious nationhood. Even the erstwhile British rulers were better than the present unwise & intolerant Hindutvawadi regime.

China's population didn't start off identifying as 90% Han. They are/were distinct ethnicities. Language-wise, I think ensuring Indian children of all backgrounds understand either Sanskrit or English are the natural, least controversial options.
