In Tolkien’s story, Saruman never physically possessed Théoden. Instead, Gríma Wormtongue poisoned the king’s mind and manipulated him, driving him into a state of deep despair. As a linguist, Tolkien placed enormous importance on the power of words. As he frequently discussed in his letters, Saruman’s greatest power was not destructive magic, but his voice (the Voice of Saruman). Saruman’s voice had a hypnotic effect, allowing him to persuade people, cloud their judgment, and distort the truth. One of my favourite things to do whenever I came to London would be to visit with Christopher and Gitte where he would regale me for hours with stories about his extraordinary life. "Christopher Tolkien sort of edited and finished other Tolkien books [such as] Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, there's a lot more Tolkien writing, which would actually make great movies that were subsequently edited by Christopher but he absolutely would not let any, the mere idea of filming. Those rights have never been available but Christopher passed away 2 or 3 years ago now and the younger Tolkien is running the estate now and they're much more open to talking Combination of Warner’s and us have been talking to some of the younger Tolkien members about the possibility of actually licensing some of the rights to the other books. It would be nice to get away from the appendices and get something a bit more meaty." What would be the very first adaptation you would like to see if Warner Bros had the full rights to Tolkiens work?

Sir Christopher Lee considered "The Crimson Cult" (1968) to be one of the worst movies in his entire career. He only accepted the part as he came to know about Boris Karloff's deteriorating health, and he wanted to work with Karloff for one last time. Karloff was 80 at that time. The photograph of Boris Karloff which was taken after the production of this movie, was placed on the walls of Christopher Lee's home. It was signed by Karloff & it stated, "Dear Christopher, many many more together, I hope." Karloff died shortly after the movie was released.

After Terence Fisher's "The Devil Rides Out" (1968) was released, Sir Christopher Lee was approached by an Irish Catholic priest and upon being asked if he was the one who made "The Devil Rides Out", Christopher Lee took a big step back and said "Yes". To Lee's relief, the priest shook his hand and told him that he had really enjoyed the film. According to Lee, the filming crew were too nervous about the film's topic of Satanism to research any witchcraft source material, prompting Lee to do so himself by reading many sources in libraries, even composing the incantations said during the Sussaama ritual at the end himself.
