But who knows where the money really went? I'd be happy if we could just balance the federal budget, run a surplus, and begin the process of retiring our national debt, even if there is an income tax. Paying it wouldn't be so bad then, to me at least.

The reason Trump is calling today “Liberation Day”, is because if Trump’s tariff economic plan is successful, income taxes will be no more, and the American People will no longer be tax slaves to a corrupt system. Today will be known as the day that ended our economic slavery. If Trump’s plan is successful, and tariffs replace income tax, the quality of life for the American People will be significantly better, and we will no longer be indentured servants to a corrupt machine. This gentlemen explains. “I think it could be the best thing that has happened to this country in 135 years….in 1890 there was no sales tax, there was no income tax, there was no property tax, there was only tariffs on what was coming into the country and in 1890, the Congress had to convene a special commission to figure out what to do with the surplus money.” Will it happen overnight? Nope. It will take time but as other countries start feeling the pinch or the loss of the American market, a real free trade market will emerge and prices will come down. President Trump will not flinch first.
