Near the end of my tenure with Reprise Records, anti-war music was taking over the industry, and the label began pressuring me to go that route but after touring Viet Nam and having seen the horrors of that war up close, I was not prepared to go there. The sights, sounds and smells are still with me today. I recorded songs that I was comfortable with, such as “Home” and “It’s Such a Lonely Time of Year,” which I feel were every bit as, or more effective than songs like “Eve of Destruction.” “It’s Such a Lonely Time of Year” was recorded for our family Christmas album, The Sinatra Family Wish You a Merry Christmas in 1968. A few months before the album’s release, I performed it on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hours, with slightly altered lyrics. While the song was written during the Viet Nam war, its’ message of separation and loss is universal and can apply to many situations. Friends, Christmas is a season of hope, so if you’re struggling, please don’t lose heart. Stay the course. With faith and love in your heart, your life can change in ways you may not yet see. As my dad always said, take it two minutes at a time. May God bless you all.

Korean vocal coaches, of YouTube Channel HYND Vocal, praise Taehyung’s vocals as the stand out in ‘NORMAL’ review! 👱🏼‍♂️Honestly, in this song, the vocal that delivered the message to me the most was probably V 🧑🏻Me too. 👱🏼‍♂️What I was thinking was, when I listened to songs like Fake Love, there was always this moment where V’s voice really hit me right away. And here too, in the chorus parts, V lightly scratches through it a little, slightly roughening his voice, so it gives this kind of ‘ugh,’ almost like a very masculine, embracing kind of part. Originally, V’s voice is naturally a bit husky, right? So he has that husky tone and that learned, strong tone, but here he doesn’t express it too excessively. Instead, it feels like he’s holding it back, almost pressing it down, while at the same time expressing it strongly in an emotional way. So I found V’s vocals really impressive and memorable. 🧑🏻To add on, I also really liked V’s vocals. There was something about the way he seemed to let his breath burst out at the ends of phrases, it gave me a strong sense of emotional appeal and pleading. Because of the way that emotion seemed to burst through like that, I especially felt this sense of ‘ah, this hurts my heart’ from V more than anyone else. So I think it was because of that deeply expressive, emotionally appealing vocal quality. (

At the hospital on Thanksgiving. I am thankful for 16 years of memories. This is likely the last full day my husband, Don will be alive. We have made the decision to proceed with comfort related care beginning tomorrow. Some of you know he had a stroke in 2019. It slowly progressed and got worse. It’s been a struggle to juggle my life, happiness, and also be his caregiver. He recently fell in his memory care facility a few days ago and it has quickly progressed from ER to hospital admission to ICU after a code blue. I was told he went without oxygen to his brain for 20 minutes. I don’t know how to process this right now but the best I can do is be with him on Thanksgiving. It was his favorite holiday. He called it “Fat Boy Christmas.” I don’t know if he can hear me but I have told him I will be okay and he can pass peacefully. I will play the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade for him. Perhaps it will bring back some really good happy memories. Please enjoy this video of Don singing. He was an amazing singer and sang until the very end. He never forgot the lyrics to his favorite songs. His brother passed away around the time this video was recorded and it made him realize life was too short. We fast tracked our life together and the rest was history. I moved to Florida to be with him and we had an amazing life together full of love and happy memories I will cherish forever. I love you Don. ♥️♥️♥️

Andrei Tarkovsky on Ingmar Bergman's Shame (1968): "Let us look at Bergman's Shame. The film doesn't contain a single 'actor's piece' for the performer to 'give away' the director's purpose, to play the conception of the persona, his attitude to it, to assess it in relation to the overall idea; and the latter is entirely hidden within the dynamic of the characters' lives, at one with it. The people in the film are crushed by circumstances; they act only in accordance with their situation, to which they themselves are subordinate; they make no attempt to proffer us any idea, any perspective on what is happening, or to draw any conclusion. All of that is left to the film as a whole, to the director's vision. And how superbly it is accomplished! You cannot say in simple terms who amongst them is good or bad. I could never say that von Sydow is a bad man. They are all partly good and partly bad, each in his own way. No judgements are passed, because there is no hint of tendentiousness in any of the actors, and the circumstances of the film are used by the director to explore the human possibilities which they test, and not for a moment in order to illustrate a thesis. Max von Sydow's character is developed with masterly power. He is a very good man; a musician; kind and sensitive. It turns out that he is a coward. But by no means every bold man is a good human being, and cowards are not always scoundrels. Of course, he is weak and irresolute. His wife is far stronger than he, so much so that she can overcome her fear. The hero lacks that strength. He is tormented by his own weakness, vulnerability, lack of resilience; he tries to hide, to cower in a corner, not to see and not to hear; and he does this like a child, naively and with complete sincerity. But when circumstances nevertheless force him to defend himself, he instantly turns into a scoundrel. He loses all that was best in him; but the drama and absurdity of his situation is that as he is now he becomes necessary to his wife, who, in her turn, looks to him for protection and succour instead of despising him as she always had. When he beats her about the face and says 'Get out!' she goes crawling after him. There is something here of the age-old idea of passive good and active evil; but its expression is immensely complex. At the beginning of the film the hero cannot even kill a chicken, but as soon as he has found a way of defending himself he becomes a cruel cynic. Another exceptionally masterful explanation by former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin of what's at stake with what Israel is currently doing. He strongly criticizes the lack of vision among Western leaders: "They do not have any strategic vision, and in particular, they still have not understood that the new world order would be based on principles [...] European diplomacy and American diplomacy have checked out. They are absent!" He says this is because "they are unable to extract themselves from their geopolitical situation as Westerners to create a path towards the rest of the world, especially towards the global south, towards the great powers today that are rising - those of the BRICS and others." He argues that Israel's current path is self-defeating as the use of force, especially when not sanctioned by international law, can only leads to more violence and instability: "I'm afraid that Israel is condemned to lead war after war, each time with more use of force [...] They can maintain security on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, but on Thursday and Friday insecurity will be reborn. Insecurity will be permanent. And that's why the Israelis invented this saying which summarizes everything: they have to 'mow the lawn'.
