Ian Poulter’s son, Luke, is currently ranked as the 5th best amateur in the world and has been selected for his 2nd Walker Cup for GB&I. Luke is watching his Dad at LIV Golf New York this week and Ian fired an opening bogey free, 5 under par, 66 to be T2. After the round, Ian was asked if he has any extra motivation to impress Luke: “I try not to think about that, but you know what, look, he's on an amazing trajectory: Top 10 in the world, playing great golf, plays golf courses that are exceptional. So he doesn't come and watch me that often. “I kind of had to put a round in today and just show him that Dad's not done yet. It's great. I love having the family come out and watch, and it inspires me to keep playing well.” In Ian’s own words, Luke has more “firepower” than he had at that age and he’s also super motivated. Luke is also likely to start top 10 on the PGA Tour University standings next year and in line to potentially earn a PGA Tour card via the system. If he can keep working hard and maintain his current trajectory, he’s a really exciting prospect for English golf. Ian Poulter

Today we witnessed a facet of Reo Hatate he rarely reveals. Shedding aside his usual dour demeanour, he demonstrated his sensitive & caring nature to put a rather shy young mascot at ease as Celtic & Motherwell lined-up. Ever the perfectionist, his mistake which resulted in the 'Well opener, clearly weighed heavily on his mind at full time judging by his reaction.
