💙💛 Fellas, can I get some good wishes for a kid from Ukraine who just graduated high school in the US with honors? I went to the high school graduation of one of my best friend’s sons this afternoon. I've known his mom for most of my life or to be precise, since I was seven and she was six. We were in the same class in Ukraine. We used to hang out every time I went back to Ukraine. Her son Alex is four years older than my son, but they have always had the best time together. After the full-scale invasion, I brought her and Alex to the US. It was in the summer of 2022. Alex was very traumatized and flinched every time he heard an ambulance or a fire truck's sirens. He started high school that fall. Four years later, he graduated with honors after taking all AP classes and getting a nearly perfect score on his SATs. Now he’s going to my alma mater to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering! Please leave him a nice message! I'm going to print them out for him because it was just his mom and me at his graduation and he needs to know that people everywhere support Ukrainians.

The story, which Tolkien told himself, is that one summer he was grading examination papers, when he turned a page and found that a student had left it blank. Without quite knowing why, he wrote a single sentence on it: "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit." He did not know what a hobbit was. He had spent years inventing languages and mythologies as a private passion, and telling stories to his own children, never imagining any of it would reach the world. But that one line began to grow. It became a story, and then a book, and in 1937, at the age of forty-five, Tolkien published The Hobbit. It was a success, and his publisher asked for a sequel. Tolkien warned them it might take some time. It took 17 years... He wrote it in the margins of a demanding full-time job, revising endlessly, doubting it often. When The Lord of the Rings was finally published, in 1954 and 1955, he was in his early sixties. That book, begun as a middle-aged professor's private side project, went on to sell well over a hundred million copies, to invent modern fantasy as we know it, and to reshape the imagination of the entire world. Tolkien already had a full and respectable life behind him. And still, the thing he is remembered for, the thing that outlived him and reached hundreds of millions of people, was something he began at forty-five, at an age when it would have been the easiest thing in the world to tell himself he had already missed his chance. He didn't. It's never as late as it feels.

Today Attorney General Merrick Garland refused to withdraw his infamous school board memo targeting parents. He said there was "absolutely nothing wrong with the memo" – even though his own FBI Director has testified there was "no compelling nationwide law enforcement justification" for it. Garland claimed he issued the memo in 2021 based on sporadic "reports in the press" of threats to school personnel. Yet he could provide no data to support his claim of an increase in threats, and Director Wray directly contradicted it in his testimony. The true reason for the memo is that the Administration saw the growing parents movement as a force for change in American education and a threat to its own power. Garland thus invented a pretext to turn law enforcement powers on American parents and discourage their participation in the political process. It is one of the most disgraceful abuses of power in American history and a window into what is driving decision-making at the current Department of Justice.

A Baltimore mother working three jobs thought her son was on track to graduate. The school kept promoting him. Then she learned the truth. In four years at Augusta Fells Savage Institute of Visual Arts in West Baltimore, he passed three classes. He earned 2.5 credits. He failed 22 courses. He was late or absent 272 times. He entered the country in 2015, was given DACA status…” Oklahoma Commissioner of Public Safety, Tim Tipton says they’re going after Michael Rosario Cruz for 2nd degree murder saying he was driving under the influence in the wrong direction when he slammed into a vehicle killing all four occupants. The commissioner says they also discovered a firearm and open containers in the vehicle. There is an active ICE detainer lodged against the driver.

There is something obviously wrong with JAMB system and their current vendors needs to be replaced. This is now a national threat to thousands of students. I have been getting several reports from students but this orphan Basola Jamiu Owodunni hit me differently. After graduating with CGPA of 4.41 studying civil engineering in FUTA, he is being threatened by JAMB that his admission was fake. He spent whooping 7 years (5 normal and 2 years ASUU strike) in school. He is now denied NYSC and other things. I am taking his case very personal. An orphaned poor boy, hustling from one building construction site to another to make ends meet to support his academic career. An academic frontier in his school fellowship rendering tutorials and academic counselling to other student...Graduated, by hope, pain, sweat. Should JAMB come up from nowhere with a false and complicated allegation that he had "Fake Admission", if so why must his personal JAMB portal be closed making it even hard to retrieve his admission history with them.
