Air conditioning has been part of American culture for nearly 200 years. Dr. John Gorrie, a medical doctor, invented air conditioning in 1837 in Florida. He sealed up a room and piped in hot air over ice buckets cooling the room down. He wanted to keep patients cool and comfortable as they suffered from malaria. They thought the air caused it, hence the Italian for bad air = "mala aria." Gorrie then patented a machine in 1845 that could bring air conditioning to any room, anywhere. It had a side effect: it also made ice. Here's a 5 min documentary on how Gorrie invented it, why, narrated and written by the great British historian James Burke from his TV show Connections — the greatest TV show ever made in my opinion.

On the Jeremy Kyle Breakfast Show he spoke to Harry Wilkinson, Head of Policy for the Global Warming Policy Foundation. Jeremy asked Harry what the answer is to the increasingly hot weather? His reply? Get air conditioning. There you have it. Get in touch with #TheApprentice winner Dean for Air Conditioning by ADL – for a cool summer (and a warm winter) indoors. For full info and photos of installations go to 👉 to get a quote (Essex & London area).

Europe is so RICH from YOUR money that it is donating 11 air-conditioning units to a paediatric ward in Montenegro. It is lending 40 million euros to fit air-conditioning in a new 250-bed hospital in Turkey. It is co-funding the installation of air-conditioning in the Tunisian hospitals in Gafsa and Sidi Bouzid. They’re funding climate control on the other side of the world, whilst telling Europeans they should suffer in silence without air conditioning, because it causes pollution. I turn 60 on Jan 10, 2027-so I’ve got 1 year to get it all done- I’ll do the rowing and deadlifting at the beginning, then focus on sprints and dunking after and finally later in the year the longer distance stuff- probably will be 245lbs at beginning of year and then gradually come down to 230-235 for the longer events-starting out from a fairly low point as I am recovering from pretty crappy respiratory infection and also a decent quad tendon strain- will continue to rehab quad over next several weeks before reintroducing some more aggressive exercises- early focus next few months will be on bringing up deadlift,Olympic lifts, rowing sprints and some cycling for conditioning- jumps and sprints will be brought back in as leg allows- looking forward to the progress and the battle! Lots of steak and eggs as well!

Brits and Europeans visiting America for the World Cup have discovered air conditioning and are asking why we don't have it this side of the Atlantic. Unfortunately, our stringent net zero policies mean air conditioning is illegal in a lot of places. One place air conditioning is allowed is in the offices of top European Union bureaucrats who decide the rules, banning it for other people - even their underlings on the floors below them. Compare this to China, where even pigs can have air conditioning. It's almost as if the oppressive communist regime with corrupt, self-serving leaders is Europe. The thing is, air conditioning could support net zero. Air conditioners run when it's very hot, and it's very hot when the sun is shining, and when the sun is shining, all the solar panels Ed Miliband forced us to install make lots of power. Too much power, in fact. There's an increasingly common phenomenon where the grid gets overloaded by electricity produced by renewables, and then electricity has to be given a negative price (paying people to use it) to encourage people to use it to syphon off this extra power so it doesn't damage the grid. Meanwhile, the usual uninformed lefty windbags appear on the BBC to spout off nonsense about evil Britain using lots of air-conditioning while countries such as India and Nigeria don't use it at all. This is nonsense. 20% of Nigerians and 10% of Indians have air conditioning in their homes, compared to only 3-4% in Britain. It's almost as if Net Zero isn't about efficient energy use at all, but it's just about making us suffer.

One of the biggest causes of ACL, overuse and other injuries we see in our female soccer players is this: Not having a load management plan and adding random conditioning on top of practice. ‼️When there are huge spikes in workload that increases injury risk. If you feel you have to punish your players with runs to build toughness, you have the wrong definition of mental toughness. Mental toughness is being disciplined with the basics, being diligent with how you plan training, focusing on QUALITY outputs, and ensuring your players can last the long game and stay healthy. For macro conditioning of the player, there must be a plan in place with practice design and small sided games. Coaches add extra conditioning based on their feelings and not objective data. This puts the players at a major risk for injury when load is mis managed. There is so much more to be said here, so I'll say this: Adding extra conditioning also makes players fear you. Why do you want to be feared? The culture should be more about respect and discipline with doing what is right for one's health.

Davion Mitchell explains how TOUGH the Miami Heat’s conditioning test is compared to other teams😳 “Everyone does a conditioning test but we do a different conditioning test. Like people usually do 10 runs on the court 3 times but with Miami you have to do it 5 times….I prepared for it 3 weeks ago…I’m not going to lie it’s one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life just because you gotta do it in 1 minute — you only get 2 minute breaks…when I ran it last year I didn’t even pass…it was tough last year…” (Deuce & Mo)

Sen. Kevin Cramer on Powell: "It would be unusual for a Fed Chair to remain on as a governor of the FOMC. Also, it's a good time for him to cash in, if you will, on his experience and his rolodex and his notoriety. He's certainly earned that opportunity. I would hope he would not stay on."
