Sorry. This animation is wrong. The liver and stomach are on the left side- should be on the right side.

Left-side sleeping is the 'gold standard' for digestion. Gravity keeps the stomach acid down, which is a lifesaver for anyone dealing with GERD or chronic heartburn. Simple physics, massive relief.

I’m going to chime in anyway. If you don’t properly sleep when you’re on your side like most of us really don’t. You’re going to injure your shoulder. There’s also a blood flow issue that degrades over time. Getting old is not fun. Best to know these things now. Here’s how I sleep like a vampire that’s elevated. On my back, hands crossed. Elevated with some extremely nice pillows. And I hated to have to learn to sleep like this. And after a long time. It occurred to me that I bet that’s why hospital beds are designed the way they are. Yes. I will talk. I am Woman 🤣 🧜🏼‍♀️🍬✨

Left-Side Sleeping Sleeping on your left side is the "gold standard" for digestive health. Because of the stomach's natural shape and position, gravity helps keep stomach acid down, effectively reducing acid reflux and heartburn. It also assists the movement of waste from the small intestine to the large intestine and is the preferred position during pregnancy to maximize blood flow to the placenta and kidneys. Right-Side Sleeping The right side is often considered the "heart-friendly" position. It can reduce pressure on the cardiovascular system by preventing the heart from shifting too much in the chest cavity, which may help stabilize heart rate and lower blood pressure. However, this position can worsen GERD symptoms, as it allows stomach acid to flow more easily into the esophagus, potentially leading to nighttime heartburn.

Interesting how something as simple as sleep position can shift how your body feels. Most people never connect their nightly habits with things like digestion, circulation, or even back tension. Small adjustments can make a bigger difference than people expect.
