In 1992 I lost my job. I just had my 2nd child. Got on welfare with food stamps and had more food than I did when working. Month later I was back on my feet with a new job that I still work at to this day. I did not take advantage of the system. Welfare works when used right.

Yup here in tennessee we have people working at chicken farms who choose to work part time so they can qualify for food stamps. This shit needs to end. Because you choose to not make the money you need you get govt assistance. Its fucking stupid.

Currently medically off work recovering from spinal surgery. I was the main income earner making almost$6k a month without crazy overtime that I normally get in peak season Nov-Feb. I got hurt really bad at work. I was rushed to the ER. I went from main wage earner to ZERO. My husband's income was gross $3200 a month for a familyof 5. I spoiled for ER medicaid (for my medical) and SNAP. I was denied. They said I could still technically answer phones even though by a doctor I've been off ALL WORK since my injury 12-15-24. I've been putting into the system since I was 16 and my spouse the same yet when we TRULY NEEDED IT WE ARE DENIED! FUCK THIS SYSTEM

Jobs should be easier to get. A government task force that finds jobs for people. Or food stamps can create a job pool for companies to pull from. It's also a de facto subsidy for corporations to pay poverty wages. And food stamps are less costly than prison and reduce crime
