I do have a nice guard still available. I think he’s a solid D1 pass first point guard that can’t be press. I was trying to deliver him to a certain school but it didn’t workout. He’s ready to go Juco D2 NAIA or D1.

Sense of Urgency In Season vs Off Season During the offseason in development, coaches can be a lot more patient with players as they continue to grow in different areas. In Season however, at high school and above, it’s winning time. There is much more of a sense of urgency for players to produce in games. The season is usually a rollercoaster and parents/players need to understand that playing time and minutes may fluctuate based on team needs (especially if you’re not the top 2 or 3 players on a teams.

RECRUITMENT OF HS PLAYERS I always find it necessary to inform players and parents on the changing landscape of College Basketball and recruiting. There are layers to everything, Rick Pitino coming out the other day and saying they aren’t recruiting any hs players this year is significant bc it signifies a change in the landscape. Does that mean no HS players are being recruited, no… but when change happens at the top, there probably needs to be some change that happens below it. So HS players and parents really need to lock in and look how they are spending their time and money, as well as think seriously about what the new path to and of college basketball looks like!

I’m wondering if you think there should be more privacy for players and their teams as they’re back there? Hexagons and Octagons Those who follow football and coaching will be well aware that there are trends that emerge and become the great break through in coaching, only to vanish quite quickly. A few stick around and become a staple. Such as the rondo, or the 4v4+4 Guardiola rondo variation. One that did not stick around in the coaching collective consciousness that possible should have was Thomas Tuchel’s use of hexagonal and octagonal playing areas in training sessions. Tuchel explained that cutting off the corners and angling the pitch forced “sharp diagonal” passes that would help break the press. The positioning of players outside the hexagon/octagon or players close to the edges will be manipulated into an open body shape by the angles of the pitch. Players are impacted by environmental constraints and embodied cognition, where the geography of the playing area influences their actions. This influence spreads to the creation of triangles and diamonds within the playing area due to the “funnel” like nature of the playing area. We can use the cut outside angles by placing bounce or target players on the exterior, influencing the movement and organisation internally. The inside players will not have to move wide as those areas are occupied. The internal players will seek to create passing angles using the positioning of the outside players and their internal team mates. The diamonds and triangles will appear. If we leave the spaces on the outside empty players can move to fill the spaces. These act as free spaces to receive from the goalkeeper or open spaces for attackers to overlap into, encouraging attacking combination play and crosses. A different way of using the space is to remove goals and goalkeepers from the ends and place bounce/target players on the outside. Players now can combine with the outside players, when they do so they are then free to finish into the outside goals. The condition can be extended to combining with the target player in the opposite side of the pitch before scoring, adding an element of switching play. The hexagon and octagon are versatile spaces that help to replicate aspects of the game. By funneling the spaces we impact players body shape, ability to play forward quickly, team shape (or small group shapes), players cutting in, defending centrally, the types of combination used and the angles of line breaking pass (diagonals). The angles are hugely significant for teams that value combinations and possession football, Straight passes and receiving angles are much easier to intercept and carry high risks for being counter attacked. Short diagonals can bypass players and attacking shapes, creating angled connections. The WNBA has a PROBLEM. A lot of people want Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese to be the Magic and Bird of the WNBA, but they can’t do that if one of the teams is terrible. The New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx are the 2 best teams in the WNBA. Both undefeated. Both loaded with Star players. The Lynx’s Napheesa Collier is the MVP favorite and vying to be the best player in the W. But the WNBA needs more from its two most talked about teams in the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky. The Indiana Fever have been without their Superstar Guard Caitlin Clark for most of the season. Posting a 2-3 record without Clark shows the strength of the team, because with Clark on the court the Fever look like title contenders this year. Caitlin Clark makes her team better when she is on the court with scoring, passing and floor spacing. The Indiana Fever need her back playing to win and so does the WNBA to keep growing the game around her exciting play. The Chicago Sky on the other hand, have the WNBA’s 2nd most visible player in Angel Reese. Reese is healthy, has played every game and the Chicago Sky are terrible. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact right now. The Sky have one of the worst records in the WNBA. Angel Reese, by her own admission, hasn’t been playing well and has one of the worst plus/minus in the entire league. For the WNBA to continue to grow its viewership at record pace it’s needs Caitlin Clark back on the court. That is clear with viewership, ticket sells and the excitement about the product on the court. The rivalry narrative between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese has become such a focal point that the WNBA needs the Chicago Sky to be good to keep people interested in that narrative. Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. It’s staring us all right in the face, but people are afraid to say it. Won’t answer questions about Caitlin Clark. Gets mad when people praise Caitlin Clark for the explosion of popularity around Women’s Basketball. Celebrates when her teammates flagrantly foul Caitlin Clark. Goes after and tries to punch Caitlin Clark after a routine “make them earn it foul” after Angel Reese fouled Aaliyah Boston with a push in the back that wasn’t called. That’s not just hate. That’s jealousy and resentment. Some people get uncomfortable when you say Angel Reese hates or is jealous of Caitlin Clark because of the complex racial history of America and the historical stereotypes of the angry or jealous Black Woman. I understand that. Angel Reese isn’t just some jealous Black woman. Angel is an NCAA Champion and great basketball player. She’s a competitor who has shown she doesn’t like how Caitlin Clark is crowned while she’s criticized for showing the same confidence and fire in her own way. That’s not an assumption, that’s what Angel Reese has said and shown us all. And yeah, that can turn into hate, jealousy and resentment. That’s what makes this rivalry real to a lot of viewers. Caitlin Clark is the most popular athlete in America and Angel Reese is the Isiah Thomas to Caitlin Clark’s Michael Jordan. That’s what will continue to raise the popularity of the WNBA. Goes after and tries to punch Caitlin Clark after a routine “make them earn it foul” after Angel Reese fouled Aaliyah Boston with a push in the back that wasn’t called. That’s not just hate. That’s jealousy and resentment. Some people get uncomfortable when you say Angel Reese hates or is jealous of Caitlin Clark because of the complex racial history of America and the historical stereotypes of the angry or jealous Black Woman. I understand that. Angel Reese isn’t just some jealous Black woman. Angel is an NCAA Champion and great basketball player. She’s a competitor who has shown she doesn’t like how Caitlin Clark is crowned while she’s criticized for showing the same confidence and fire in her own way. That’s not an assumption, that’s what Angel Reese has said and shown us all. And yeah, that can turn into hate, jealousy and resentment. That’s what makes this rivalry real to a lot of viewers. Caitlin Clark is the most popular athlete in America and Angel Reese is the Isiah Thomas to Caitlin Clark’s Michael Jordan. That’s what will continue to raise the popularity of the WNBA. People care about rivalries. Rivalries aren’t built on handshakes. They are forged in fire, fouls, and pride. Angel Reese wants to beat and outshine Caitlin Clark. Angel Reese has said she is the Villain. That is sports. That’s the game. Angel Reese has beat Caitlin Clark, but never outshined her.
