Smart people are very good at accessing the mental plane. Yet they often do not navigate the physical and emotional planes well. Addictions are a comfortable way numbing down turning down the volume on their weaknesses and turning up the volume on their strenghts. It's a coping mechanism. They haven't learned to use their weak hand.

@chaseaustiinn Very well said, Chase. It's so true. I think we turn to addiction as a coping mechanism to sedate us from the constant underachieving of our potential. And we sabotage ourselves into enough pain as retaliation from our subconscious mind, potentially to shock us awake.
