SNAP was supposed to supplement, not “pay in full” for people’s food bills. Something went very wrong if they’re able to afford lobster and shrimp on a supplemental income. Their income needs to be reverified to see if they even qualify for food stamps if their income allows for that kind of extravagant food spending.

SNAP = SUPPLEMENTAL Nutrition Assistance Program. It is meant to provide additional money for food, not be the sole source of money for food. Nothing is stopping her from spending her own money on snacks.

I personally knew a female who used her SNAP benefits exclusively for parties. She would throw a party and bbq prime rib, paid for with SNAP benefits. They will always find a way to cheat the system. Maybe it's time to go back to issuing commodities instead of a blank check.

You need to get you a skill and get a JOB!! I was on Food Stamps in the 90's. And I saw a woman buy a bunch of High dollar food. And she had a newer car than me. I went out and got 3 jobs to take care of my family and got rid of the Food Stamps.

Thanks, Illinois, you're my favorite state” This is a real loophole that actually works and it needs to be closed If your state has placed food restrictions on “ junk foods” like chips, soda, or candy, you can still buy them with your SNAP benefits in a state that hasn’t banned those items.
