SNYDER: Trump administration doesn’t know anything about how wars are fought, or anything about wars at all. They also don’t understand anything about modern war. They’ve chosen not to pay attention to Ukraine. They’re intimidated by Ukraine. They’re intimidated by the fact that people actually can fight a real war. They’re intimidated by courage and by democracy, I think. They’re intimidated by people who take risks. Trump administration thinks that everybody is a coward, that all you have to do is scare people or frighten them. Because it would work on them. Like if they were mildly inconvenienced, they’d sell out immediately. They can’t imagine people would react in any other way than immediately giving in, that’s what Trump people do. Side effect of all of that has been that they haven’t really followed how war has changed in the last five years. It’s wrong premise to think you can win wars with missiles, like Trump people thought when they went after Iran. That doesn’t happen. But also, fighting wars with munitions that you then can’t remake immediately is antiquated.

Regime change is not our decision. We learned that the hard way in Iraq and Afghanistan - I fought in both of those wars. We ended up there for a long time in a war we didn’t understand. Regime change can only come from one place: the people of Iran. But let’s be clear - we may not be at war with Iran, but they are at war with us. I support Israel’s strikes fully and hope they are successful in debilitating Iran’s military.

We went from “the war will end in 2 to 3 days,” to the United States bombing Iran on multiple fronts and Iran about to retaliate. Trump is full of crap. He has no idea what he is doing or getting himself and us into. I warned you 100 days ago that this wasn’t going to be a quick “two week” war. Instead, it’s a too weak war.

I think the results today with Iran were very good. We’re going to meet again early next week. They want to make a deal. Iran, as they should, want to make a deal. They know the consequences. However, as a Nation and as a People we must always keep this quality about us that we are not ruled by hatred and we never take pleasure in violence towards anyone for any reason. Today, war has become an unfortunate necessity for us in response to a certain situation. However, as a Nation and as a People we must always keep this quality about us that we are not ruled by hatred and we never take pleasure in violence towards anyone for any reason. At the same time, we have a duty and a Responsibility toward our own people to address certain situations and that is what the Nation is doing. This is not a war of hate but one of necessity.
