Pretty sure he’s not trying to help that hedgehog get across the road 😐. He’s poking him quite aggressively. Looks like he’s either picking ticks off of the hedgehog or he’s trying to injure it. Magpies can be pretty vicious and have been known to attack and even kill hedgehogs.
