I think there comes a point where left and right, political parties, and all of this tribal bullshit have to stop mattering. There has to be a line. For me, protecting powerful people instead of protecting children is the line. The Epstein files are the line. If people abused children, I don't care who they are, how much money they have, what political party they're connected to, or how powerful they are. Expose them. All of them. Gaza is the line. Watching innocent children and civilians be killed and somehow finding a political argument to justify it is the line. Genocide is the line. Ethnic cleansing is the line. I don't care what side is doing it. I don't care what happened 50 years ago, 100 years ago, or 1,000 years ago. You don't get to destroy or remove an entire people and then convince me it's okay because your side has a reason. It isn't okay. Abortion is the line. I believe an unborn baby is an innocent human life, and taking that life is something I cannot pretend doesn't matter because it's politically inconvenient. War over peace is the line. Sometimes war may be unavoidable. But constantly pushing toward war, celebrating war, or refusing to seriously pursue peace because war serves someone's political or financial interests is the line. Governments that don't put their own citizens first are the line. Governments that serve corporations, donors, special interests, or foreign governments before the people who elected them are the line. Of course countries should have allies. Of course we should cooperate with other nations. But your first responsibility as an elected government is to the people you were elected to represent. When another country's interests come before your own citizens, something is seriously wrong. Corruption is the line. A justice system where ordinary people live by one set of rules and powerful people live by another is the line. And lately I'm seeing something else that really bothers me. There is a very obvious push to demonize Muslims. I don't agree with Islam. I actually oppose Islam as a religion and disagree strongly with many of its teachings. I'm not going to pretend otherwise. But Muslims are people. That's the distinction that matters. You can criticize a religion. You can criticize an ideology. You can criticize beliefs. But when someone starts trying to convince you to hate an entire group of human beings because of what they believe, pay attention. That's the line. And when the same groups that shout antisemitism from every rooftop turn around and sell you an anti-Muslim message, they do not occupy the moral high ground. They are part of the problem. Antisemitism is wrong. Hatred of Muslims is wrong. You cannot tell me it's immoral to judge Jewish people collectively and then turn around and tell me I should judge Muslims collectively. Either the principle applies to everyone or it isn't a principle. Look for this stuff when it's happening. Because hatred almost never comes to you and says, "I'm hatred." It tells you these people are dangerous. It tells you they're different. It tells you they're responsible for your problems. It tells you that this particular group deserves your hatred. And eventually it tries to convince you that hating them actually makes you a good person. It doesn't. That isn't love. That isn't morality. And it isn't left or right. It's wrong. It's always wrong. I don't care what political party you belong to. I don't care what country you support. I don't care what religion you are. And I don't care whether the person doing something wrong is supposedly on "my side." If something is wrong when the other side does it, then it's wrong when your side does it too. That's what having principles means. Children aren't political collateral. Human beings aren't disposable. People are not their governments. People are not their religions. You can oppose an ideology without hating the people who believe in it. You can fight antisemitism without becoming anti-Muslim.
