So good it spawned God knows how many pop culture references

Sailor Moon transformation is like Akira Slide, it's basically mandatory to reference it the moment you have a chance to (except people actually remember what Sailor Moon was about)

I think the winx too

To add to the collection!

Seems like Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z and Akira get referenced a ton around the world.

Sailor Moon has more references on the west than Kamen Rider

Big city greens did that too! With Tilly transforming into Cousin Jilly! In an episode, Cousins Jilly!

I see Penn Zero Part Time Hero footage peak

Which anime on the right side is this from?..

not to be a party pooper but didn't minky momo do this earlier than sailor moon :0? do correct me if im wrong, but i guess sailor moon reached bigger audiences and has larger impact

It also happened in Rick and Morty and The Patrick Show.

Stolas and Loona in Season 2 episode 2 of Helluva Boss

@NeptuneNepHeart Epic

They forgot Luz at the end of The First Day

ELFIN BAKUGAN NEW VESTROIA MENTIONED.

one of my favorites of late

It was so influential that they put transformation scenes in Metajets, a boy's show about jetfighter pilots. Sailor Moon art was all over the 90s internet. And it spawned an entire genre of parodies from Magic Girl Hunters on Improfanfic to Madoka to Angelic Acceptor Alouette.

Bakugan mention?!?!!!!

And the Sailor Scouts' VAs are all still active to those day even sometimes showing up as other magical girls' VAs or at least being /in/ shows about magical girls.
