So how do we reconcile this: he wouldn’t be granted a catch until he survives the ground. So why is he ruled down once his knee hits (ball short of the goaline) before the he completes that act? Loophole ProFootballTalk

@ProFootballTalk Forward progress can stop while you are still determining whether it is a completed pass or not. The spot that you are considered "down" is solely where the gain of possession is sealed and either has a knee, elbow, 2 feet, etc down. Thus ending the forward progress.

@ProFootballTalk Because his knee was down Chris, 2 feet + the knee. Down by contact short of the goal line. You still have to complete possession but you don’t get the ball where you stopped rolling and finally possessed it.

@ProFootballTalk Chris, you have an unusual, almost sick hatred for the Eagles. You despise them so much yet talk exclusively about them every chance you get. When should we buy you a jersey?

@ProFootballTalk I mean, on a sideline catch, they give you credit for your feet tapping, and not being incomplete for being out of bounds when you "survive the ground"
