So many people have no idea what segregation actually was. During segregation white people always had access to any Black space they desired

That’s why it irks me when a lot of our people romanticize segregation. It’s usually people in my age group or younger(the ones far removed from it) and They make it seem like everyone just stayed on their side of town and it was all sunshine and unicorns. SMH

Anybody romanticizing segregation is an instant red flag that shows you have no idea what segregation is and don't have any idea what you're talking about It's just babble that sounds “pro black” to people who don't read and or listen to oral history about the subject

They think "segregation" was "good" and they have absolutely no idea how awful it was being denied even the basic of things. I've talked to my older relatives who lived through it. They have nothing positive to say about segregation. It was hell for them.

They really think segregation is just not wanting to be around white people and they confuse ethnic enclaves with segregation which was/is a system of domination/subjugation

“Separate but equal” was always a lie. As long as one group imposes the separation, there will always be a power imbalance. And to this day some still romanticize the days of it, and strive to bring it back. Genuinely disgusting group of people.

Romanticizing about Jim Crow/Segregation is an insult to my great-grandfathers who had to leave everything he owned behind in Reaford NC & move his family North or he would've been a dead man. These ppl never had conversations with family members that lived during those times.

Because they allowed it doesn't mean that same thing would happen today. Some of our ppl allow them access and love being around that doesn't mean that would happen now

It's easy to talk tough about what you would do on an app owned by an apartheid Afrikaaner Black ppl back then often did fight back but what are you gonna do when they bring in the national guard or military like they did in Tulsa?
