So many think the same as this guy. Our benefit system is clearly being abused. It’s clearly not what it was once designed for. I advocate for the genuinely disabled to get MORE money. It should never have morphed into expensive BMWs, Mercs for some. Benefit system is broken.

As someone who's classed as disabled and gets pip they've tried every trick in the book to say there's fuck all wrong with me while some gimp with anxiety gets everything, fucks me right off

Because 2 million foreign born are on a benefit of some kind in this country. 1.3 m on UC

Ok sure. But that figure also includes foreign-born British citizens not just foreign nationals. Also many UC claimants are long-term residents (pre-Brexit EU nationals with settled status) or ppl granted refugee status after several yrs in country Not the boat crossers.

If you need a car for mobility it should be the cheapest car on the market. There’s too many people in this Country who think they’re entitled to other people’s toil. That needs to change.

You get a mobility allowance, if you can add to it you can get a better car, you aren’t “given” a merc. Now if you argue should you get pip if you have enough money to add to it and get a merc well that’s a different argument and I may agree with you but would like to know more

Mr Brooks' work as a publican brings him into daily contact with ordinary people. He understands that many are working harder and longer to pay the increased taxes. Few MPs seem to realise this or, if they do realise, they don't care.

Look the problem is with granting upper level pip when it’s not needed. If you go for an upgrade car you have to put a large down payment from your own funds. Eg last year a Pugeot 5008 was 5k advanced payment by the hirer. The rental is taken from mobility payments ……….

Speak to any tired overworked GP and they will tell you its simpler just to sign people onto the sick than put up with the hassle and abuse they face. Make the claim system more rigorous and make sure they have to jump through all the hoops. Put every claim in front of a panel!

While I have no issues with taking luxury cars off the Motability scheme, the simple fact is Motability costs the taxpayer very little.

we're never given a proper medical definition of "genuinely disabled". What is that? Who of us do you want to remove the benefit of?

The motability scheme is a good thing. It's not all BMW's and mercs. Our last one which was a Skoda Kamiq cost us around £15, 000 for a 3 year lease. If there wasn't motability we could use the high rate mobility payment and still just go and hire a car elsewhere.

When they did the pilot areas Middleton was one of them and for me its been a life saver as I was spiralling after my divorce and my childhood girlfriend dying after we got close and my mobility is declining mate but 42 ,but you are 100% right Adam fraud was rife back then and it's worse now and as I've said previously i know people who took advantage of a well intended system even under legacy benefits abused it to the point where they should be in jail
