According to this exchange, John Thune personally asked that Scott Presler not be allowed into the event even though Thune was not part of the convention committee. When pressed on how he had the authority to remove someone, the answer was essentially that Thune “asked nicely,” had security inside, and no one wanted to challenge the Secret Service. Scott Presler was deliberately kept out at John Thune’s request.
