The amount of wingflex in a 737 wing during turbulence, wings can flex much more than most people realize.

Airplane wings aren't some rigid chunks of metal: in fact, they probably have a bit more flex than you'd expect. This is the behavior of a Boeing 737's wing in a turbulence.

NEW: Air Canada plane executes an emergency landing and skids off the runway in Halifax during a suspected landing gear issue. The incident came within hours as 179 people were killed when a Boeing 737-800 crashed in South Korea. “The plane started to sit at about a 20-degree angle to the left and, as that happened, we heard a pretty loud, what almost sounded like a crash sound, as the wing of the plane started to skid along the pavement, along with what I presume was the engine,” a passenger told CBC News. The Air Canada flight landed with zero fatalities, only minor injuries. Both incidents had apparent landing gear failure.

🚨 JUST IN: Air Canada flight lands in Halifax with a broken landing gear, resulting in the wing scraping the runway causing a fire The airport is currently CLOSED. This comes just hours after a Boeing 737 attempted a landing without warning extending its gear in South Korea, resulting in an explosion and all but 2 passengers being klled.

🚨 NEW: Yet ANOTHER Boeing has lost a tire during take off. This makes the second in just 36 hours. Yesterday was a United Boeing 757. Today was an American 737. Both have EXTENSIVE DEI programs Coincidence? You decide.

Engineers created a machine that has the soul of a bird and the performance of a high-end sailplane. The Wright Brothers would be proud.

Lots of people seem unclear on what actually happens during a writer's strike not just with the WGA but with ongoing productions. Here's a quick thread on one of the films that was affected the most by the 2007-2008 WGA strike - Quantum of Solace.

some reflections from wonbin during recent fansigns... lately, he’s been so vulnerable about his growth and journey since debut. it’s heart-wrenching yet so meaningful to see him open up about his worries like this. during the fansign yesterday, he asked, “what i want to say might sound boring, but since you’ve seen me for a long time, what do you think of me now? am i different? have i changed?” he was clearly looking for reassurance from a fan who has been there since day one. he brought it up again during today’s fansign. he mentioned that while there are many new briize, he was specifically curious about the thoughts of the fans who have been watching him since debut. it’s clear how much he values the perspective of those who’ve witnessed his growth. wonbin… if the path you were taking was wrong, i wouldn’t love you this much, so please don't worry! seeing him so introspective only proves how much he cares about his sincerity. he hasn’t changed, he just continues to grow into the person we were always so proud to support 🩷

Here's the full surveillance video showing moments before the Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 (D-ABPQ) nose gear collapsed at Frankfurt. If you watch closely, the nose landing gear doors open first, indicating what appears to be the start of a normal landing gear retraction sequence. According to reports, the Dreamliner had logged a maintenance request the previous day involving a landing gear door error message. On the Boeing 787, maintenance personnel can place the aircraft into a special maintenance mode (on the overhead panel, turn switch to "enable"). Boeing manuals emphasize that if maintenance mode is enabled, hydraulics are powered, and the gear lever is selected UP, the landing gear can retract regardless of weight-on-wheels protection. To prevent this, there's an override button where the gear handle lockout can be bypassed to move the gear handle even if it is locked out. The only way this can happen is by intentionally bypassing the normal safety lockouts used during maintenance procedures. Outside of maintenance or certain emergency procedures, the aircraft's weight-on-wheels system prevents gear retraction on the ground. Lufthansa says the aircraft has since been recovered. Fuel was removed, the jet was lifted, the nose gear was re-extended, and the aircraft was successfully towed under its own weight to a maintenance hangar. Germany's Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation has completed evidence collection from the aircraft and is now gathering witness statements. An interim report is expected within approximately 8 weeks. 📹: airlinersde via YouTube, link on first comment here.
