So much of what makes leftists feel morally superior—open borders, defunding the police, letting homeless people live on the street—creates unbelievable amounts of cruelty and suffering. Mayor Mamdani abolishing homeless encampment sweeps killed 16 people. Just let that sink in.

Mayor Mamdani is asked what he plans to do about the homeless people currently living on NYC sidewalks in freezing weather. He says he’s only been in office for a few weeks and has no real plan. He only offers platitudes. The reporter notes that a homeless person told her he would go into supportive housing if it were offered. Instead of saying he’ll offer that freezing man supportive housing, Mamdani says there need to be more services that the homeless man wants and will use. All this shows Mamdani has no real plan. He’s literally letting homeless people freeze on the sidewalks right now. Why don’t all of his socialist supporters invite homeless people into their homes? New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is reversing a campaign promise and reinstating homeless encampment sweeps. In changing his mind, however, Mamdani wants New Yorkers to know his sweeps will be "unlike the prior administration." Some encampment dwellers tell CBS News' @Jared_CBS they are happy to comply with the order to move, but homeless advocate David Giffen says he's disappointed to see the mayor's policy change. This comes after 18 people died in the recent cold snap, with most of those deaths coming from the city's unhoused population.

At the heart of the case for progressivism is compassion. New York’s democratic socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, paused the police sweeps that had moved homeless people indoors in winter. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass cut the fire department’s budget while expanding city services and proposing cash assistance for people in the country illegally. Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed legislation that would have allowed taxpayer dollars to support sober housing. The result of those policies is death and destruction. In San Francisco, a mentally ill homeless woman lived on a sidewalk until her feet rotted from gangrene, after which the hospital amputated them and discharged her back to the same block. After Mayor Mamdani paused the sweeps, at least 19 mentally ill or drug addicted homeless people died outdoors in a single cold snap. In Los Angeles, the underfunded fire department failed to stop the fires in Malibu and other neighborhoods last year, and encampment fires continue to shut down freeways. I told Michael Malice in a recent conversation that many progressives genuinely care about the people on the street. The point is not that their feelings are insincere. The point is that their feelings produce policies that kill the people the feelings are about. Republicans are locked out of New York and have not won a statewide race in California since 2006. The 2026 California gubernatorial primary, however, is the first race in two decades where two Republicans could plausibly advance to the November runoff. And the Democratic field is so divided that the California Democratic Party has openly urged its weaker candidates to drop out, fearing exactly that scenario. The homeless crisis in Santa Monica, CA is getting so bad that one homeowner invented his own homeless deterrent device. Santa Monica man Stephen McMahon invented a "diversion security" device that he is using to move homeless people out of his 20-block radius. The device detects when homeless people are in the area and starts chirping with a blue light. McMahon says he uses blue light because it tricks the brain into thinking it is daytime. He also says the blue light makes it so the homeless people can't see their veins to sh**t up drugs. McMahon hopes to install the Blue Chirper throughout his entire community to drive out the homeless. "I want to push these people out of here and bring Santa Monica back to the way it was."

Does anyone think it’s odd or statistically improbable that homeless people don’t have a family member or even a friend they can crash with until they ‘get on their feet?’ Around 20% of all homeless people are sex offenders. 50% are sex offenders in eight states. 37% of homeless people have been to prison, 79% jail. 65% of homeless people use drugs or alcohol regularly. You are fundamentally coddling and supporting rapists, pedophiles, liars, thieves, murderers, the worst that society has to offer. They don’t have any friends or family because they raped, robbed, and murdered them all. Stop helping these pieces of shit. Let ‘em squirm.

You literally can’t make this up The city of Los Angeles cleaned up a homeless encampment, and just 2 HOURS later the encampment was back “Prostitution violence and drug use right outside an elementary school. Mothers in with babies in their hands and or strollers, they have to walk on the street in oncoming traffic because they can't use the sidewalk” “Trash cans back. City crews came out here today and cleared it out, but within hours, some of the homeless were already back.” There are an estimated over 15,000 homeless encampments in Los Angeles…. Just in LA….
