If anyone thinks this is a red card they have no clue about football 😂😂😂 1. It’s not even a foul 2. Even if it is gave as a foul it’s not a yellow card foul 3. The ball is nowhere near him at ANY point for this to be gave a yellow or a red card IF a foul was gave 4. If you’re giving fouls for this you’re giving a foul every second of a game 5. Even if this was a yellow card, which it wasn’t, VAR can’t intervene to give a yellow card It’s a contact sport. But he’s literally throwing himself to the ground the SECOND Tavernier touches him. He doesn’t pull him or push him. He literally puts his hand on him and he throws himself to the ground cause he knew he wasn’t getting anywhere near the ball It only looks bad because he throws himself to the ground and Tav almost falls over him

A number of you have asked about the call at the end of the 1st Half of the Bethel Football game at NCC Football in which there was a potential fumble/TD wiped off the board for Bethel that eventually led to no score by the Royals. The full play and a breakdown of issues with the call are in the video below. To be clear, though: 1) It appears that the receiver did not possess the ball at or past the NCC 8, which was needed for the 1st Down (the officials gave the ball to Bethel at the 8 after the overturn, awarding a 1st down). 2) It seems like the wing official was marking forward progress but may not have blown his whistle. It is unclear how he affected the overturn decision in the first place. What is clear is that the officials on the field awarded a fumble and TD, meaning they did not rule forward progress had been stopped. As a result, this aspect of the play is NOT reviewable by rule, as it is a judgment call in real time. 3) No TD should have been awarded before the review in the first place, as the ball clearly was fumbled to the lineman, and fumbles on 4th down in college football can only be advanced by the fumbling player. The ball would have been marked at the spot of the fumble in that case. 4) The officials missed a clear Roughing the Passer call, as the NCC defender went for the Bethel QB's legs while he was in his passing stance. This would have been a half-the-distance and automatic-first-down foul. If this play was called correctly in the first place, it should have been called dead with forward progress stopped at the 8 1/2 yard line and the Roughing foul pushing the ball to the 4 1/4 yard line, 1st & Goal Bethel, with the clock stopped due to penalty. No matter what, though, the Roughing penalty would have ensured Bethel had the ball closer to the goal with 16 seconds left (when forward progress stoppage should have been called). This is from today's #WCWS game. This was ruled a base hit when it happened (you can see the 'H' pop up), but was changed to a missed catch error by the first baseman at the bottom of the fourth. This is an impossible catch for the first baseman with a ball thrown from that angle, that hard. This throw has to be to the glove, and while it's not a wild throw, it's low enough that the first baseman cannot get her glove around it in time. This is where replay gets you in trouble. The slo-mo replay makes it look like it's a catchable ball, but it isn't. In real time, at live speed, this isn't an error. This isn't a missed catch or a drop. I was loving the call of a single, especially because it was the first hit, and then, when it was changed, it felt like it was to protect a no-hitter. Everything about this screams "above ordinary effort" ... I would have left this as a single.

It was fantastic to witness how the #Spurs players Ange & the staff celebrated beating #Liverpool at the final whistle. They enjoyed every moment of their well-deserved victory last night. It was the best buzz after a game in the stadium for me this season. The fans came expecting the worst and left deliriously happy. The only one not so was Virgil Van Dyke asking the ref how Bergvall was still in the pitch to score the winner 🤣 #COYS 💙🤍

Lots of folks wondering why the two plays to Oneil Cruz in the Pittsburgh Pirates at New York Mets game were recorded as hits. Here is the first one, and you can see he misjudges this line drive, and he comes in and then it sails over his head. MIsjudgement is NOT an error, so this correctly went down as a triple. Is it a ball that he needs to catch? Yes. Is it an error? No. An error is a physical misplay, and there is not a physicial misplay here. #LetsGoBucs #LGM

Bryson is NOT happy with the course conditions at LIV Mexico. He hits a bad sand shot into the crowd. He gets a decent lie in the rough but isn’t happy. With respect to Bryson, if you hit into the rough, you play it as it lies. It’s not supposed to be perfect. Props to the ref for not giving in. And props to Bryson for the great up and down!

🚨 Regarding Croatia's disallowed goal, this "super slow-motion" replay shows that the ball was indeed almost certainly touched by Matanović—at the very least, a graze of the hair. We can obviously question the "spirit" of how the rules are applied here, but since technology allows us to detect even the slightest micro-touch of the ball, we might as well use it. 🤯 HOWEVER, the main aspect of this decision to analyze is the subsequent header deflection by Veiga. Indeed, two questions arise here (in relation to the Laws of the Game): - Was it a "deliberate play" on his part or not ? If it is deliberate, he plays the Croatian player behind him onside. If it is not, offside should be called. - Was it a save ? (i.e., "preventing or attempting to prevent the ball from going into or very close to the goal"). If it is a save, then offside must be called. According to the Laws of the Game: "The following criteria should be used, as appropriate, as indicators that a player had control of the ball and, as a result, can be considered to have 'deliberately played' the ball: - The ball had travelled from distance and the player had a clear view of it; - The ball was not moving quickly; - The direction of the ball was not unexpected; - The player had time to coordinate their body movement, i.e. it was not a case of instinctive stretching or jumping, or a movement that achieved limited contact/control; - A ball on the ground is much easier to play than a ball in the air." We are therefore in the realm of pure referee interpretation.
